Excellent communication from the host, a beautiful secluded spot in the woods with everything you need to make it feel like a home. - Nadine (September 2018)
A lovely, spacious, clean log cabin, which provided a great break from city life in Toronto.
We felt truly isolated in the forest (couldn't even hear any cars) and were really able to relax and unwind. Highly recommended. -Sharon (September 2018)
This was our second stay in this absolutely beautiful house in the country.
Lisa and Patrick are warm and responsive hosts, the house is very well-equipped and comfortable, and the gardens and surrounding area are gorgeous. Strongly recommended!- Jennifer (August 2018)
The magical log cabin was everything myself and my group could have ever asked for.
The seclusion was perfect. Nestled in the woods outside of Durham, this place offers the most scenic views and serene privacy. The space is huge and just immaculate. Lisa’s personal touches made it that much more homey and comfortable. Bravo! If you are hesitating booking, don’t! I would recommend to anyone looking to get away from it all. I only went for a weekend and wishing it was the rest of the summer!-Dalton (July 2018)
This log cabin truly is magical.
If you really want to get away from it all and enjoy quiet nature at its finest, this place is perfect. As soon as we walked in my family talked about making a trip to this place an annual tradition!-Meaghan (June 2018)
We had an amazing weekend at the log cabin.
It is on such a beautiful piece of land and the cabin itself is stunning. We had a large group and it fit everyone very comfortably. Check in and out was super easy and Lisa was a great host!-Jessica (June 2018)
Anyone looking at this cottage should book it!
Easy to get to and closer to amenities in Durham. Looking forward to staying again.-Ken (May 2018)
We literally gasped when we walked into the Magical Log Cabin. It truly is “magical”.
The decor, the light, energy, cleanliness, everything! It was just perfect. I have rented so many places where I have felt like I was putting the owners out for using their space and Lisa’s amazing attention to detail, with her extra touches, made everyone feel especially welcome. We were always discovering new special areas in both inside the cabin and the surrounding area. We loved that we were able to walk to a conservation area, where there were several loop trails to enjoy. Lisa was always very quick to respond to inquiries and was very accommodating when necessary We cannot wait to return! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for providing us with a magical weekend! Lisa was an amazing host. We loved the entire weekend.-Julie (May 2018)
The cottage has a pond/lake in front of it, very scenic.
It’s beautifully maintained and equipped with all essentials. The cottage has been decorated very well. We loved every part of the weekend.-Jaz (April 2018)
Our group had a fantastic stay at this cabin.
I was worried the photos were photoshopped, but the cabin looked exactly as pictured. Lisa was a great host and let us check in early. Everything was nice and clean, and the cabin was well-stocked. We had a "magical" time:)-Laura (March 2018)
Lisa's place was extremely beautiful.
We were unlucky with all the rain but I can imagine how wonderful all the sunshine would be through all the windows of the space. Everything is very tastefully decorated. The beds were very comfortable and I am so glad for the big dining table which easily fit our group of 9 and can even fit more.-Ann (February 2018)
Beautiful space! Well equipped, very clean, well maintained and a responsive host.
The booking process had a few extra steps that the owners have implemented - but if that's to ensure the guests are thoughtful and clean, it's worth it. Bedding/mattresses are great quality and special features of the property added a ton of value. We had a great experience. Matthew (January 2018)
We arrived on Friday that had seen several inches of snowfall and it resulted in a beautiful scene. The Cabin was warm and inviting, but spacious and offered our group of 10 more than enough room. The grounds are beautiful and we explored them thoroughly on snowshoe! The Cabin feels very remote while being only a few minutes from Durham, which offers all of the amenities one could ask for. Great time, and we'll be back!!!-Jeremy (December 2017)
The pictures are totally accurate. The house is gorgeous, extremely clean and a great place to relax.
The beds are very comfortable; just make sure you make your bed before it’s too late at night. Our girls’ weekend was wonderful because of the cozy atmosphere of the cabin (although I’m not sure cabin is accurate since the place is quite large). I don’t see how anyone could be disappointed with this place or how they would have even the slightest complaint!-Terry (November 2017)
This cabin was exactly what I was looking for and the photos were on point.
This cabin was exactly what I was looking for and the photos were on point. We had 7 ladies comfortably staying here with lots of room for gathering circles and activities as well as quiet nooks indoors and outdoors for reading and morning coffee. All info was accurate and Lisa was a gem to deal with. We had a wonderful time at this Magical place and it conveniently has the "feel" and privacy of being secluded while being only 5mins away from groceries and acute café downtown Durham. We loved our stay-Daniella (September 2017)
Private paradise! 3 couples and our dog went to this cabin and we had the most incredible time!
The house is exactly how it looks in the picture and everything is so tastefully decorated. It's so quiet here and we even caught a couple little fish and a turtle in the pond (use worms)! There are screens on all the windows which is wonderful for big control. Perfect place to unwind 🙂 All the wood/kindling for the indoor wood stove and fireplace were provided which was a great touch! There are tons of condiments in the fridge which was helpful. I would recommend turning up the heat in the jaccuzzi as soon as you arrive. Also the sheets were folded in the bedrooms so don't forget to make your bed before you crawl into it after a night of drinking haha! ALSO you must take a tour of the micro brewery in Neustadt. It's the oldest one in Canada and has an underground cavern! Awesome beer too! Overall, it's such an incredible place and all of us felt so lucky to have found it. Happy traveling!-Chanelle (September 2017)
My only regret was that we didn't book a longer stay.
This cottage is definitely magical. The location is rustic, scenic and super comfortable. As soon as you walk in you feel like it is a home away from home. The instructions for travel, house rules, and amenities were clear and easy to follow. We met Lisa's husband who was hospitable and helpful. We also loved that you didn't want for anything, the kitchen was fully stocked with utensils and cooking tools and there were quite a bit of "pay-it-forward" items in the pantry and fridge which helped when we forgot to bring ketchup 🙂 Both Lisa and her husband were flexible and accommodating by email and in-person. My only regret was that we didn't book a longer stay.-Sabrina (August 2017)
My girlfriends and I spent a long weekend at the Magical Log Cabin and it was a trip we will never forget.
The cabin and surrounding property is truly breathtaking! We were in awe of the gardens, the Japanese anemones, wild orchids and the soft layer of fresh thyme covering the lawns. The cabin itself is so cozy and we enjoyed many delicious meals sitting together at the beautiful harvest table. The space is just perfect and every detail is so thoughtful. Lisa and Patrick, thank you! You are fantastic hosts and we can't wait to stay here again! We would love to make this an annual getaway!-Lauren (August 2017)
The magical log cabin was great get away for my family and I.
The place was beautiful and clean, instructions were straight forward, and Lisa was very timely with communication. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet get away. Thanks Lisa and Patrick!-Chantelle (August 2017)

It was even more beautiful than the pictures and what I imagined. The cottage was nicely kept and clean. Thank you for an amazing stay...we will definitely be back!-Yohanna (July 2017)
Our kids loved looking for tadpoles in the pond, snails in the garden and running around chasing butterflies.
This log cabin is actually magical! Lisa and her husband have put so much time, love and work into this little secluded home. The house itself is absolutely gorgeous and spacious - we had plenty of room for three families with two kids each and two dogs. We found it to be spotless. The cabin was lovely inside and out - complete with plentiful towels, cozy blankets for our one rainy, cold night, and games to play. The gardens are beyond gorgeous - again the work that Lisa has done is incredible. Our kids loved looking for tadpoles in the pond, snails in the garden and running around chasing butterflies. Like I said - magical!-Sarah (July 2017)
It was absolutely stunning, very private & quiet.

There is so much space to explore and hang out.
The Magical Log Cabin truly was magical! We had everything we needed. We swam in the pond, which was nice and refreshing. They even had a few water floaties we could use. The 2 covered porches were excellent for the bit of rainy weather we had. There is so much space to explore and hang out. We cannot wait to come back!-Diane (July 2017)
This cottage was beautifully secluded away from the world but close enough to get to amenities.
This cabin is as amazing as it's listing, and even more so once you get there. It was spacious, family friendly and pet friendly which is a great bonus for us! This cottage was beautifully secluded away from the world but close enough to get to amenities. Slight issue on the wifi but host are easily reachable when needed. A very definite yes to returning back again ! Thank you for having our family!-Anita (June 2017)
We swam in the pond every day.
Beautiful property, very private and quiet. The house was clean, very spacious and comfortable. Access to long trail system and we swam in the pond every day. We would recommend this property and would love to return!-Sabrina (June 2017)

Our group of girlfriends felt so comfortable and pampered at this serene location.
The unique touches to details around the property and inside the cabin were like those out of a magazine. Such a beautiful sense of style. Lisa was excellent to deal with both leading up to the time away and as well for checking off easy to do lists before locking up. We will be back.-Lindsay (May 2017)
Lisa's magical log cabin lived up to all expectation and then some. It was just as beautiful as the photos.
Our group was able to enjoy our weekend away feeling like we were secluded from everything - it was peaceful and serene. Lisa and Patrick were great hosts and were always quick to respond. They definitely made us feel welcome and made sure we had everything we needed from firewood, to towels, to kitchen amenities. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you for an amazing stay!-Cassie (May 2017)
Even though the photos and descriptions are really thorough and accurate, Lisa's cabin still exceeded our expectations.
The welcome information package sent in advance told us all we needed to know about the cabin and our stay. Lisa was a very responsive host as well. The cabin is located on a beautiful and well maintained property that is secluded, but still a very close drive to the town. Despite constant rain during our stay, we still enjoyed a cold swim in the pond, followed by a hot tub, as well as some great hiking. The cabin itself is so spacious and well-stocked. It had everything we needed and more! Eight of us stayed for a corporate retreat for 2 nights and had a blast! There was more than enough room for all of us to have communal dinners at the harvest table, play board games, and have some quiet space to read. It was the perfect place for our retreat and I certainly hope to return soon! Thanks to Lisa and Patrick for being great hosts! -Tania (May 2017)
The Magical Log Cabin in West Grey is truly magical.
I've stayed twice now (once in the winter and once in the spring). The cabin is large, bright, spacious and clean and there are cozy nooks to curl up with a book and enjoy the fire. The grounds are gorgeous, with spots to meditate by the pond, enjoy the paths to walk, or warm up in the hot tub (especially like doing this under the blanket of night and stars!). The hosts are very accommodating and all the instructions were clear and easy. I highly recommend MLC. -Amanda (April 2017)

Everything was very clean, with a spacious kitchen which was great for cooking, and very comfortable beds. Additionally course, the grounds are beautiful to walk around, which made the excellent hot tub and fire pit just the cherry on top for a great weekend. Myself and 9 friends booked this to celebrate a friend's upcoming wedding, and we couldn't have found a better place to get away and relax. Lisa's cottage is everything you see in the pictures and more.
It is nothing short of 'magical'. It was absolutely beautiful, tucked away in a secluded spot! It was spacious, and cozy, and accommodated 10 of us perfectly. Although it rained for a day, the house had so much to do, from playing ping-pong, to sitting on the porch and enjoying the garden and pond around. The cottage kitchen was also well equipped with all the necessary cookware. We did not get to meet Lisa personally, she was a pleasure to connect with and speak on the phone, and answered all our questions. Thank you for sharing your home and such a lovely stay. We only hope we can visit again next summer- -Vian (July 2016)

The magical log cabin, was exactly magical!
The cabin and property look exactly like the photos, perfect. We didn't get the beautiful weather we wanted to enjoy the property to it fullest, but that didn't stop us from having a great time. Everything about the magical cabin was beautiful and the attention to all the details made the cabin look like it was out of the pages of Home & Country. We would definitely come back. ~Dawn (August 2015)
We recently enjoyed a wonderful stay at the truly magical log cabin.
We were 4 families with little kids and simply relished the immaculately maintained and well equipped cottage that made for a relaxing long weekend getaway. The little ones enjoyed the nearby mini-hikes and Durham waterfalls, while the adults soaked up the evening sun with the bbq and hot tub. We will be back again soon! ~Mukul (Aug 2015)
It's spacious and comfortable, with a perfect combination of rustic materials and construction techniques along with modern conveniences.
10 of us rented the cottage for a long weekend in May, and we were all delighted with it. Most cottages this large and well-equipped end up feeling like regular houses, but this one manages to feel like a proper rustic escape while still having integral wiring, plenty of convenient plug sockets, full laundry, and a large widescreen TV. And of course the fire pit and hot tub! The grounds are beautiful and private, giving a real sense of being away from it all, even though there's still lots to do and see within an hour's drive. The rental contact and owner were also very responsive and helpful all through the weekend. ~Andrew (May 2015)
Great for hikes and cross country skiing with the snowmobile trail right at the bottom of the driveway.
The Magical log cabin was....magical! Just as you would expect from the pictures. 8 of us went up for New Years and had a wonderful time. The cabin comfortably accommodated all of us. The beds were very comfortable. The property is beautiful. Lisa, the owner, was quick to answer any questions we had during our stay. I would highly recommend it! ~Vito (January 2015)
